Good morning Newtown High School! Today is Fun-filled Friday February 23, 2018, and it's an F day! The order is 4, 3, 2, 1, 8, 7. Please stop in the hallways and stand for the pledge.

THERE WILL BE A MEETING TODAY FOR ALL GIRLS INTERESTED IN TRYING OUT FOR THE GIRLS TENNIS TEAM AT 2:40PM IN F120!

The Chess Club will meet, today, after school, in Room A203. New members are always welcome.

Tech Team is holding a presentation discussing the production of a student film. We would like to welcome anyone interested in film production to join us. Positions include script writing, costume design, sound and music design, filming, editing, acting etc. If you're interested, come down to room C080 right after school on Monday, February 26th to learn more.

The 2019 Western Studies trip to Europe is ready to go! Next year we will travel to Italy, Austria and the Czech Republic for 10 adventurous and history filled days. Venice, Salzburg, Vienna and Prague are all on the itinerary. If interested, there will be a parent and student information meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 27th at 6:30 p.m. in room B-150. Come see what it is all about! For brochures and trip details you can stop by Mrs. Meyer's room in B-142.

The Spring Sports Meeting has been changed to Wednesday, February 28th at 2:40 in the Main Gym. Any student planning on trying out for a spring sport should attend.

There will be a baseball meeting for all interested in playing NHS Baseball on Friday March 2nd, prior to the tryout, at 2:45 in the Lecture Hall.

Newtown High School’s annual Day of Silence is Wednesday April 25, 2018. Please sign up in the English office with Mrs. English, Mr. Rovello or Ms. LaBarge by Thursday, March 15. If you do not have a t-shirt, please bring $5. If you already have a t-shirt, please sign up anyway. We need to have a complete list of participants. You also must attend an informational meeting on either Wednesday, April 11 and Thursday, April 12 right after school in B232.

DO YOU WONDER WHAT THE POLICE DO ALL DAY? DO YOU WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT DIFFERENT CAREERS IN LAW ENFORCEMENT. LOCAL POLICE, STATE POLICE, FBI, SWAT, K9? The Newtown Police Department will be starting its annual Student Police Academy March 29th. The Student Police Academy is open to Newtown High School students. The academy is 9 weeks long. It starts Thursday March 29th and will be held once a week on Thursdays from 6 to 8pm. The class is limited to 25 participants and preference will be given by grade level seniority. Any questions can be directed to Officer Chapman. Pick up an application in the career center or from Officer Chapman if you are interested.
