Attention Best Buddies! Our Best Buddies Valentine's Day dance tonight from 7-9pm in the new cafe!  Dance the night away with your Best Buddies! Free admission, bring a dessert to share!

The Women’s Center drive has started! Help the people who have been abused by donating anything from socks to toilet paper. The people going to the Women’s Center are in search of safety, and what better way to make them feel safe and comfortable than providing them with basic necessities? Donate to the Women’s Center to bring a smile to the mistreated people of Connecticut.

This year's fall drama is The Crucible! Call-backs will be held today.


The Chess Club will hold it first meeting of the school year after school today in room A203. Returning club members can catch up with each other and newcomers are also welcome!


A reminder about tonight’s football game vs. New Fairfield at 7:00:

We want to have the biggest turnout possible, and we want everyone to have fun and be safe. Remember: Nobody can enter the stadium before 6 PM, all student tickets are $3 and can be purchased ahead of time in the AD office, and no bags, bottles, baby powder or re-entry are permitted (small purses are fine). Thanks and we hope to have a huge turnout tonight!


Are you a female who enjoys singing? Then girls’ acapella is the club for you. Auditions are next Tuesday, September 11th in the choir room C186. Please prepare a one minute excerpt from your favorite song. Hope to see you there!


Game Design Club: We will have our first meeting before school next Wednesday, September 12th starting at 7:30. Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting, no sign up required, just show up to room A110.

Join the Young Democrats to get involved in town elections and meetings, advocate for progressive issues, and learn more about the government and politics of today. Our first meeting will be before school, Monday, September 17th in room B232- see you there!


ATTENTION SENIORS: The senior class photo is scheduled for Friday, September 21st at 8:30 AM at Blue & Gold Stadium. Seniors should be at the stadium promptly at 8:30 AM for their group photograph by Lifetouch. Order envelopes will be available in Advisory and extra forms will be in the Assistant Principals’ office. Seniors, mark your calendars and be part of the Class of 2019 photo on September 21st at 8:30 AM at Blue & Gold stadium!


Calling all seniors! There are only a few opportunities left to get your senior portrait taken. If you do not get your portrait taken at one of the remaining sessions, then your portrait will not be featured in the yearbook. Find your appointment on the list hanging on the AP windows. Also, seniors, make sure to take the student and teacher superlatives surveys, senior favorites survey, and senior quote survey on Naviance before October 1st! AND EVERYONE MAKE SURE TO BUY YOUR YEARBOOK!

Interested in learning coding or just hanging out with a bunch of programmers? Coding Club is open to everyone, even if you have no experience! Stop by A104 on Wednesdays after school any time until 4!


NHS students: In the event that Newtown High School practices an evacuation drill, please proceed to the turf field and look for your Advisory teachers. They will be standing on one of the numbered lines on the turf. Please line up with your Advisory classmates.


The HAWKS Honor Association is dedicated to service to Newtown High School. HHA members assist at a variety of school functions, including Open House, Middle School Panel, Eighth Grade Parent Night, and parent conferences. If you are a current sophomore, junior, or senior, you are eligible to apply for the 2018-2019 school year. Students must have an 80 average with no courses failed. Please see the club’s website for an online application. If you have any questions, please see Dr. Hoag in room F103 or email her.
